Banarasi Tamatar Chaat

This unique street food from Varanasi is a spicy, tangy, and slightly sweet chaat made with tomatoes and a blend of spices. It’s served hot, garnished with crispy sev, and is a true flavor bomb for chaat lovers.

Ingredients:

  • 6 medium tomatoes (chopped)
  • 2 boiled potatoes (mashed)
  • 1 medium onion (chopped)
  • 1 tsp ginger paste
  • 1 tsp green chili paste
  • 1 tsp roasted cumin powder
  • 1/2 tsp black salt
  • 1 tsp chaat masala
  • 2 tbsp tamarind chutney
  • 2 tbsp ghee
  • Sev and chopped coriander for garnish

Instructions:

  1. Cook the tomatoes: Heat ghee in a pan, sauté onions, ginger, and green chili paste. Add tomatoes and cook until soft.
  2. Add spices: Mix in mashed potatoes, cumin powder, black salt, and chaat masala. Stir well.
  3. Finish and serve: Drizzle tamarind chutney, garnish with sev and coriander, and serve hot.
